Hi,

I'm new to mapping and trying to fumble through things on my own as much as I can. I'm unable to find the skymap .TGA files inside the new Steam file system. I assume it is packaged in some PAK files or something like that.

I know how to direct the Hammer editor to use what environment I choose, I just need help finding out which ones are available.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

They are inside the counterstrike.gcf file.
Use nem's GCFScape to browse gcf files.

Great!

With that info I found them no sweat! Thanks very much! New question, how do I put new files into that .gcf file? Or how do I use a .tga file for my environment that doesn't already come with default half-life?

Thanks again,

Put the TGA files into your cstrike-gfx-env folder then in HAMMER go to map(above toolbar)-map properties-environment map(cl_skyname)

put the exact name of the new sky TGA in the box don't use any of the bk,dn,ft,if,rt,up after the sky name either

example de_vine

sky name: ghetto

TGA files ghettobk, ghettodn, ghettoft, and so on

your using NEM's to complile right...good

Where's our new HL2 HAMMER SKiller?

Oh not much I'm getting laid off from my job Oct 1 maybe and still waiting for Half-life2 Hammer.Kinda taking a break from mapping, til the new Hammer arrives.

How do you like the new CS:S de_dust? it's going to be sweet making the new maps! probably going to be harder for me though.

I'm gonna start working on some map layouts, after I'm done with this online website design class,I have 2 more days left.

It seems much like max payne 2. I guess it would since it uses their physics.
