um im new here and i need help um...
when i try 2 compile i get an error it says "Could not find system dll to load."
i filled out every thing in game configs its the (game dir.) one
i didnt know what 2 put there
and im using steam
what do i put there?

Hi Slacks I downloaded these web pages and some others on compiling and took them to work and made a simple map and worked through some problems.
After many hours,I don't see any errors in the compiling and the bsp still won't run.
I'd just like to make sure everything is set up correctly before I start on putting together my first masterpiece
should I paste my compile maybe there is something wrong?

ahhhhhhhhhhh yessss I fiddled with it somemore and it loaded up and ran ,except it was pitchblack in the map good thing I had me flashlight.
waaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh ooooooo
i put a light in there but I guess I didn't set it up right
EDIT:
I got some texture lighting now....................
Something happened to my "New Objects" when I put it on "entities" the "categories" field and the drop down menu are empty now.I must have hit some button and I don't know how to get my entity selections to come back up.... do you where a good resource is to learn about all the buttons and menus for Hammer. It always seems like little stupid problems like these disappearing entities that set me back.
Ahhh I'm still golden after getting my first map to compile & work

congrats on getting map to work.
any time you have problems with a compile error posting the log file is a good idea.
as for the empty entity list just check and make sure ur fgd is still loaded in the options .

| Im having some trouble launching my maps, when i am testing the map (f9), the entire Valve Hammer Editor stops and crashes... cant understand why... |

I think your trying to compile using the default compiler? Get Nem's Batch compiler http://countermap.counter-strike.net/Nemesis/index.php?p=2
the tutorials for setting it up will have you compiling and running your maps fast
I had similar problems until I got Nem's batch compiler
after you get Nem's setup,In Hammer save your map as a .map file and then compile it into a .bsp with Nem's.I usually save my map as a .rmf to use with hammer,and a .map to compile with Nem's _________________ History teaches us that man learns nothing from history...Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel |

| Yeah... i tested it out and it worked just fine:) i have created three maps allready... two fy-maps and one de-map... |
