I have been to several sites, including Steam's forums, without success. Here is my problem.

The pointfile will not load in game. It returns "Cannot load maps/mymap.prt" when I type pointfile into console.

1. The .bsp and .prt are in the mod's maps folder.
2. The map definitely has leaks.
3. The compile of CSG and BSP show no errors but a leak.
4. There is information in the .prt file.
5. I am using Zoner's Custom (latest), Nem's compiler, and Worldcraft 3.5b
6. "Pointfile" command does not work for any map.
7. I am using STEAM.
8. "-particles 60000" is a command line parameter for the game.
9. It has always worked in the past.

I compile the map to find leaks, so just CSG and BSP. I have insured the .bsp and the .prt are located in the mod's map folder. I start steam, click play games, select Halflife, toggle console, type in "map mymap", and, when the map starts, toggle console and type in developer 1 and then pointfile. It returns the "Cannot load..." error. The map doesn't crash. Nothing dramatic happens. It is this way for all the maps I've tried.

I've tried different compile parameters, but nothing drastic. Just the normal compile settings I've always used. I have tried to add particles beforehand with a "pointfile 50000" command. I've tried different commandline parameters... nothing works.

I don't need help finding leaks. That I can do and someone suggested LeakMarker and it seems to be working. I don't like to load the pointfile in Worldcraft. The game has always loaded a pointfile before this and I'd like it to do it again. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

the pointfile is the .pts file isn't it.

show me the compile log.

Quote:
"cannot find pts file"
xxxx.pt# and xxxx.pts are files made in compiling by the compiling tools. Usually when you get "can't find .pts" it means something went wrong with compile. It could be a bad setup you made for the compile, or you're Running WC/hammer thru normal instead of expert, or having "too many wads", or corrupted compiling tools (rare but happens), a bad path/name somewhere, or several others. The solution is generally to use a front end or batch file with zoner's compile tools, then the problem usually goes away or the compiling error becomes clear.

prt is a portal file

There are no errors, but leaks, in the log. It writes a .pts (yes, that is the one) file and puts it where it's supposed to. It and the .bsp are located in the mod/maps folder.

WIth the map, it had a malformed face error in the RAD compile section, but I got by that by changing the max node size from 1024 down to 512 in the compile and locating the error location and re-texturizing where I thought it would help. It compiles now.

I have since found all the leaks and fixed any errors, but pointfiles still don't load. I don't think it's a Hammer/compiler issue as much as a STEAM or Halflife issue, since it won't load ANY .pts files. I would just like it to work as it's supposed to...

You are the last in my line of choices (just because I forgot that Tommy's error page might have more to it). I have tried several other mapping sites, a few Halflife sites, STEAM forums... nobody has an answer. I think something in my game or system is corrupt.

I also couldn't get pointfile open in steam, with my last map. so i put everything in won/sierra folder(cs 1.5) and checked it in there.
I thought i just had a path wrong, or wasn't in single player mode....

You can also try and load pointfile in hammer 3.5
