I dunno? but I like the new displacement surface tool though
Slackiller you know? does the Hammer compiler work good? does Nems compiler work with the new Hammer?
terrain is going to be much easier with the displacement tool
Bring up the texture application tool and go to the displacement tab.Select the face you wish to turn into a displacement surface. Click create and you will enter a power, which will determine the number of points on the surface that you can lower or raise.Select paint geometry and you'll move around a little select thing. Left clicking and moving the mouse will raise points, while right clicking will lower points. You can increase the size of the selection tool by using alt and left mouse dragging
nice upgrades,it's like a built in Nems TG
Slackiller, are you going to make a few pertinent tutorials regarding new HAMMER features. That'd be nice but I bet your having a good time mapping right now.Let us know If you run across more mapping goodness like the displacement tool. _________________ History teaches us that man learns nothing from history...Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel |

From Nem's Site
| Quote: | For those of you who haven't noticed, the Source SDK has been released via Steam. I gave it a run through and was a little disappointed; nonetheless I realize it isn't the final SDK.
During my run though, I noticed that Hammer's compiling interface hasn't improved one bit. As a result I've uploaded some shinny new Source specifications. These specifications were generated by running each tool in verbose mode without any other options. I noticed that some of the options listed didn't work or were misspelled or otherwise lacked a decent description so don't expect these specifications to be perfect.
You can pick the new specifications up on the specifications page, or by running an automatic update from within Batch Compiler. The specification you are looking for is "Source Tools Normal". You can also expect a new Batch Compiler in these coming days with some overdue improvements.

I'll make some tutorials as needed I guess.
I haven't started any maps yet. I looked at it last night, messed around some.
Trying to finish up some HL1 maps for some mods.

I'm working graveyard this week, but I'm going to get started with a mapping project.
I have alot of buildings that I made for Hammer 3.5,along with some texture wads I might want to use.I'll have to find out how to transfer them over to Hammer2. _________________ History teaches us that man learns nothing from history...Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel |
