Slackiller,
Nice site,I especially like your de_vine map(the textures look great, makes me think of a run-down 1950's Eastern Europe?).I'm still making friends with the hammer editor, making lots of progress by reading and using all the tutorials.Maybe soon I'll be able to start putting it all together Very Happy .I've been wanting to use some of the Slack_texs,but theres no link yet .also where is a good place to find more textures.Your site in my favorites and I visit it often.Well congratulations on de_vine.I'll make a nice map soon I hope or throw my 'puter off the sundeck

Dont worry about getting a long with the Hammer Editor, I got it pretty quick. Anyway, Slack's tutorials own.

Them's some nice textures thanks Very Happy I'd still like to have de_vine.wad too those are some sweet tex's.

When I figure something out with Hammer I'm pretty happy....it's fun to have have breakthrough's(Thanks for the tutorials) I wish they had video tutorials on map making.Kinda like what they do on Tech TV.Have an experienced mapper like Slackiller mapping and giving a commentary as he goes along the whole time showing the computer screen and what's going on with the map making.I'd pay money for a tutorial like that.Sometimes the best instructions still don't hold a candle to actually seeing experience at work. After getting stuck for hours,In total frustration I've knocked over chairs(company chairs Very Happy ) around the office trying to figure out directions and little stuff(so frustrating) then I figure it out and I'm like Why are these directions so crappy.

I fiddled with Hammer about a year ago but never really tried. Now with the delays for HL2.I decided to really try and get it down so when HL2 comes out I would be familar with everything.I spend about 20 hrs a week reading tutorials and mapping.I have alot of free time at work Cool so in a couple months I hope to be able to make something good.I'll be stopping in here frequently and posting see ya around Cool

I'm going to Greece,Turkey, and Israel for 3 weeks on March 30th for vacation. While I'm there I'll take some pictures for map ideas.Should be alot of good scenery around the West Bank and Gaza for maps. It's going to be a wild vacation Cool kinda scary though

Hey thaks for the comments. Very Happy

I guess i'll put that wad up. not really that good i think, but what the hell. Smile
as for the de_vine wad ,they are textures from some misc. wads, doener kings textures, blazeeer textures, some from the max payne wad too.

there are some video tutorials around. they are alright and all but tend to be big downloads for short videos, but if you got dsl or cable or something ,i guess it's not that bad.
i'll search for them and link them here.

glad you guys like the site. I have a new design coming soon.

That would be great Slackiller Very Happy ,I got max payne(the 1st one) I'll scour through max payne and find the .wad file.I did'nt know I could use other textures from other video games.I got some questions(probably dumb ones) on map making.when you make a building or something bigger than the textures say like 1536(L) units by 1024(W) units and 512(H) units should I piece it together with 256 unit brushes or can I just make it with a brush that big.I've read some tutorials that said it would make the r-speeds high and make the map lag? I probably got alot more dumb questions.I'll post them to ya when I've exhausted myself looking for the solutions.I know your busy so if you find time to reply once in awhile,I will be very thankful.

GAMER-X You live in Israel? if so cool Cool ,where

I'll fly into Tel Aviv, then stay in Jerusalem for 3 days, then we go up around the Sea of Galilee for 2 days.I'd like to try to make it everywhere but you know how vacations get if you try to squeeze to much into a little time.I guess I'll just have to go on vacation again to Israel Very Happy I'm looking forward to going.
